A Knight enters the Maze of the Mind and meets the only enemy he can’t outfight: himself. This chapter is about grief, self-doubt, and the moment you stop running from your own reflection.
What happens in Chapter 1
A Knight reaches the Maze of the Mind carrying the Sword of Oaths and the Shield of Stars. Inside, the Corridor of Mirrors fractures him into versions of himself: grief, guilt, and every moment he avoided. The Whisperer forms in the glass, wearing his face and feeding on the lie that he was never enough.
He doesn’t win by acting fearless. He wins by telling the truth: what he lost, where he failed, and what he became trying to survive it. At his lowest point, his son’s voice reaches him, and that becomes the turning point. The Whisperer falls not because the Knight is perfect, but because he stops hiding.
When he leaves the Maze, one star on the Shield of Stars kindles and the Sword of Oaths holds a quiet line of light, not power, but proof he stood up again. At the river, the First Arrow of Destiny strikes. Lumera arrives, not to rescue him, but to walk beside him into what comes next.
